A celebration of life for Earline Grimes, 91, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ronnie Frankens officiating. Interment will follow in the Grimes Cemetery.
Earline was the thirteenth child born to Rosa (Burnett) and Daniel Lawrence Scarborough in the small farming community of Beulah in Angelina County, Texas November 18, 1926. Her father died when she was very young and her mother later married Lum Shivers whom they called “Daddy Lum”. Times were hard and she didn’t remember a time when she didn’t work but Earline always had a good time and loved her family. Earline and Curtis Calvin Grimes were married July 14, 1944. She passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 in Baytown.
Earline is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Edna Lois and Jim Love; daughter-in-law, Judy Grimes; grandchildren, Curtis Lawrence Griffin, Kevin Griffin, Candy and Gus Wienhold, Carrie and Wes Barbour, Bobby and Sharon Grimes, Kyle and Marcie Grimes, Bronson and Susan Grimes and Kaylon Grimes; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Dewey Scarborough; nieces, nephews and many other special friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis Calvin “Sug” Grimes; sons, Freddy Lee Grimes and Curtis Wayne Grimes; and great-grandson, Justin Grimes.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Grimes, Kyle Grimes, Bronson Grimes, Kevin Griffin, Darrell Davis and Terry Davis.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
