Dr. Jeffrey Dane Grubb

January 20, 1956 — January 15, 2025

A Memorial Mass for Dr. Jeffrey Dane Grubb, 68, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Joby Thomas officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Jeff was born January 20, 1956 in Port Neches, Texas to the late Patsy Ruth (Stark) and Bobby Grubb, and died Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at his residence.

Jeff graduated from Lamar University then attended the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he studied Dentistry. He graduated in 1983 and moved to Lufkin where he practiced at The Dental Center of Lufkin for 35 years. He concluded his career at UTMB Correctional Dental, where he worked for the last five years.

He loved his entire family and truly adored his daughters. He was a “Girl Dad” through and through, despite the tough shell he might have shown every day. He was an intelligent and witty person. You could talk to him about almost anything and he would have a working understanding of it. Jeff was a selfless person, willing to help anyone who needed it. Whether you were stuck with a flat tire or desperate for dental work, he would freely give himself and his time for others. He was also happy to have recently celebrated his 45-year wedding anniversary.

Jeff was an avid hunter and sport shooter. He was an award-winning marksman, competing in sporting clays and long-range competitions. He particularly enjoyed sharing these hobbies with his friends as they would travel, hunt, and shoot together.

Jeff was blessed to spend his life surrounded by many lifelong friends who shared his love of hunting and shooting sports: Lloyd Havard, Clyde Horton, Martin Dies, Mike Davis, Wil May (dec’d), Charlie Caver, Jackie Jumper, Mark Cook, Blake Cook, Will Cook, Mike
Arnold, and the members of the Pines Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife, Bridget (Duhon) Grubb of Lufkin; daughters, Mallory Bate and husband Jon, and Jacqueline Grubb and boyfriend Jason Moore, all of Lufkin; granddaughter, Dorothy “Dottie” Bate of Lufkin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bryan Duhon, Barbara Duhon, Beth and Mike Deragon, and Brent and Natalie Duhon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Paul Grubb.
