As a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Texas City and more recently of College Station, Henry served as a Sunday School teacher and worked with the Texans on Mission organization (formerly Texas Baptist Men), providing disaster relief around the country.
While earning his PhD, he fell in love with Texas A&M University and spent much of his retirement keeping up with his beloved Aggie sports teams.
Henry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wanda; two daughters, Claire Kramer and husband Scott of Pasadena, and Anna Taylor and husband Bill of Needville; two sisters, Ada Vee Tucker of Spring, and Barbara Page and husband Anthony of Corrigan; a brother, Allen Ray Pope of Baytown; and four grandchildren, Jacob Taylor, Joshua Taylor and wife Kadie, Jared Taylor, and Ella Claire Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
