Funeral services for Dovianne Boyd, 79, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Lufkin First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Michael Rawls and Pastor Mallori Rawls officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mrs. Boyd was born July 11, 1945 in Center, Texas to the late Joyce (Jenkins) and Melroy Alton Wagstaff, and died Saturday, October 12, 2024 in a hospital in Tyler, Texas.
Mrs. Boyd had many interests. She loved to decorate and had a true gift for making any space look spectacular. She also loved to travel, eat out with friends, and frequently enjoyed trips to Ross. She loved her church. And, she loved to iron.
Dovianne grew up in the parsonage and knew what it meant to serve and sacrifice in the local church, especially from the example of her parents. She was involved in many different ways in the Church of the Nazarene over the years. She was always a smiling face and greeted visitors, making sure to send out handwritten cards. She also considered it her ministry to decorate the church, making sure that it looked its best. Also, she was gifted musically, singing and playing the piano. Over the years she even did things like volunteering to work with children, mending clothes for different members of the church, and simply stepping in wherever needed, working hard to make sure that the job was done. She loved her church and was determined to see it flourish.
She was full of wisdom and made it her mission to share that wisdom with other women of younger generations, taking the time to sit with people to listen and counsel. Dovianne was always put together and made it her mission to put you together too. She was funny, always spoke her mind, and carried herself with such poise and grace.
In more recent years she was involved in Friday night date nights where 10 or 12 friends met, ate, and discussed current events and shared joys and heartaches. Saturday was a day spent searching for treasures at garage and estate sales.
Dovianne loved to travel, especially cruises with friends and family. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. However, her friends and family stand with calm assurance knowing that she is in the presence of her King Jesus and in the arms of her beloved David.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bryan Keith and Beverly Ann McElrath of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Reneé and Mike Branson of Huntington; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James David Boyd; her parents, Joyce Bridges and Melroy Wagstaff; and her daughters, Kari Lynn Standley and Jami Nicole Bauer.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Proffitt, Jimmy Rogers, Robert McGrath, Dale Wilson, Doug Standley, Micah Moseley, and Roy Lee McElrath.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kendall Mosely and Arnold Porter.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 at the funeral home.
