Memorial services for Douglas Arthur “Dougie” Durbin, Sr., 67, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with his son, Douglas Durbin, Jr. presiding, assisted by Jim McDonald and Kyle Campbell. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Durbin was born January 23, 1951 in Hemphill, Texas to the late Palestine (Graves) and Henry Arthur Durbin, and died Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston.
Mr. Durbin had resided in Lufkin for four years and formerly a resident of Pineland for most of his life. He was a graduate of West Sabine High School Class of 1969. He was a salesman and was self-employed. Mr. Durbin served as a volunteer fireman for over 30 years with the Pineland Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed collecting sports cards and diecast muscle cars. He loved attending live music events and was an avid San Antonio Spurs fan. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Durbin of Lufkin; son, Douglas Arthur Durbin, Jr. and wife Laurie of Lufkin; daughter, Mandy Elizabeth Durbin Hardy and husband Kris of Pineland; grandchildren, Lane Taylor, Hannah Abner, Mackenzie Brown, Reece Durbin, Jordan Hardy, Grant Durbin, and Lily Durbin; and numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon prior to the service at the funeral home.
