Funeral services for Dorsey O’Neal Walker, 100, of Holly Lake Ranch will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Sawyer officiating. Masonic rites will be recited by the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Brown Cemetery.

Mr. Walker was born January 1, 1925 in the Ora Community of Angelina County, Texas to Gussie Pearl (White) and Andrew Jackson Walker, and died Monday, November 3, 2025 at his residence.

Mr. Walker answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the 4th Marine Division. He fought bravely in some of the most historic and difficult battles of the Pacific Theater, including Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. In later years, he was recognized as one of the last surviving veterans in the nation to have fought on Iwo Jima. After his service, he remained active with the VFW and local veterans' groups, continuing to support those who had served alongside him.

Mr. Walker’s work ethic was unmatched. After returning home from the war, he worked as a machinist at the Lufkin Foundry. He later moved to Houston, where he briefly worked for the U.S. Postal Service before finding his calling as a deliveryman for the Carnation Milk Company. This job eventually brought the family to Baytown, and later to Lake Jackson, where he and his wife raised their two children. When the Carnation plant closed in the late 1960s, he continued his route work with Westmoreland Dairy. For decades, he rose at 3:00 a.m., picked up his delivery truck at the plant, and spent long days delivering milk - often not finishing until early evening. His dedication never wavered.

At age 55, he began a second career with the Texas Highway Department as an inspector, working another 10 years before retiring at age 65.

Mr. Walker lived a life marked by service, dedication, and unwavering loyalty to the people and places he loved. Shortly after he and his family joined Woodlawn Baptist Church in 1946, he was ordained as a Deacon - a role he cherished and served in faithfully for many years. He was also a proud member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M., having joined in 1946. In recognition of 75 years of continuous membership, he was awarded the Golden Trowel - an honor reserved for those whose commitment runs deeper than time.

Retirement did not slow him down. Mr. Walker and his wife returned to Huntington, where they built a home on 60 peaceful acres. Later, they moved to Wimberley to be closer to their son, proving that home was simply wherever family was. He loved the outdoors and staying busy. Even well into his 70s and 80s, he could be found mowing not only his own yard, but the yards of nearly 20 neighbors and friends.

He had a gift for connection. If he wasn’t outside working, he was on the phone - checking in, catching up, never letting distance or time weaken the relationships he valued. Mr. Walker loved people, and people loved him back. He cherished every moment spent with his family and never missed an opportunity to share a story, reminisce, or laugh about “the good old days”.

Mr. Walker lived with purpose, worked with integrity, and loved with loyalty. His life was a testament to faith, service, and the simple joy of being present with the people who mattered most.

Survivors include his wife, Habie (Harbuck) Walker of Holly Lake Ranch; son, Wray Walker and Lynda Lackner of New Braunfels; granddaughters, Kelli Walker, and Emily and husband Dustin Hatcher; grandsons, Mike and wife Anita McCoy, Tim and wife Chani McCoy, Scott and wife Vickie McCoy, Mark and wife Kelly McCoy, and Matthew Garza; great-grandchildren, Adam Conlan, Megan Conlan, Elle Hatcher, Dusty Hatcher, Meredith McCoy, Grant McCoy, Madelynn McCoy, Vickie McCoy, Stefan McCoy, Tim McCoy, Chelbi Traylor, Taylor Warren, and Averi McCoy; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vicki Lynn Walker; four brothers; and four sisters.

Pallbearers will be Masons from Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
