Dorsey Vega

Graveside services for Dorsey Vega, 92, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.

Mrs. Vega was born September 10, 1933 in Huntsville, Texas to the late Marie (Huhn) and Wesley Youngblood, and died Saturday, May 30, 2026 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Vega spent most of her life in Port Neches prior to moving to Lufkin 10 years ago. She taught first grade for 30 years at Orangefield Elementary. She loved her students and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Barry Vance of Hemphill; grandson, Jason Vance of Lufkin; granddaughters, Jennifer Carter and husband Clayton of Huntington, April Vega of Austin; great-granddaughters, Madison Beam and husband John of Huntington, Aftyn Jones and husband Aaron, of Lufkin, Aubree Carter of Huntington; great-great-granddaughters, Brayley Beam and Blakely Beam, both of Huntington; sister-in-love, Janelle Meyer of Magnolia; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard “Papa” Vega; son, Richard Lee Vega; grandson, Richard Aaron Vega; and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Jason Vance, Barry Vance, Clayton Carter, Rodney Youngblood, Paul Youngblood, and Dillard Youngblood.

Honorary pallbearers will be Byron Glasscock, Kelton Glasscock, John Beam, and Aaron Jones.
