Dorothy Jo (Spears) Penland

Funeral services for Dorothy Jo (Spears) Penland, 85, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Cody Moree officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.

Mrs. Penland was born December 11, 1936 in Stephenville, Texas to the late Josephine (Martin) and Joe Spears, and died Sunday, October 23, 2022 at her residence.

Mrs. Penland retired from Southwest Airlines after working as a Benefits Analyst. She was a member of Huntington First Baptist Church. Dorothy loved making cards and scrapbooking with her friends. The family is extremely thankful for their love and support. The family expresses sincere appreciation to Hospice in the Pines, and love to Lou Kio and Ruby Martinez.

Survivors include her son, Travis “Eddie” Penland; daughters, Lacretia Dawn “Crickett” Moree and husband Dr. Cody Moree, Melanie Charisse Penland; grandchildren, Elizabeth Baker, Meranda Longoria, Rachel Penland, Jeremiah Penland, Chelsi Moree, Farlyn “Trey” Bowen III, Bryce Penland, Chandler Moree; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Travis Spears and wife Judy; and numerous other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William H. “Bill” Penland; daughter, Mildred Ann Seelye; granddaughter, Nicha Young; and grandson, Shealon Penland.

Pallbearers will be Chandler Moree, Kendal Spears and Randal Spears.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning prior to the service.
