Doris Mitchell

Funeral services for Doris Mitchell, 88, of Zavalla will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Roger Fancher officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Mitchell was born July 21, 1936 in Zavalla, Texas to the late Georgia Gray (Cryer) and James Monroe Lowery, and died Saturday, September 21, 2024 in a local facility.

Doris was a lifetime resident of Zavalla and spent 44 years as a Beautician.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia and Robert Dhone, Melissa and Jim Stacy; granddaughters, Ashley Forsythe and husband Levi, Amanda Dhone; grandsons, Jacob Stacy, Clayton Stacy; great-grandchildren, Caden Cavazos, Hadley Hooks, Kevin Hooks, Brynlee Forsythe, Lane Forsythe; sisters, Dorothy Dorsett, Jeanette Hunt; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Robert Grant Mitchell; and brothers, Kenneth Lowery, Ralph Lowery, Glenn Lowery, W.M. Lowery, and Roy Lowery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Borel, Jack Dickey, Jacob Stacy, Clayton Stacy, Caden Cavazos, Kevin Hooks, and Jerry Steigler.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
