Doris Bell

April 12, 1929 — April 8, 2025

Graveside memorial services for Doris Bell, 95, of Henderson, formerly of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Gann Cemetery with Brother Trey Ainsworth officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bell was born April 12, 1929 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Minnie Pearl (Key) and John Wiley Spears, and died Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in a Henderson nursing home.

There was only one Doris. She was the most consistent person you’d ever meet and she was as honest as the day is long. She was a very intelligent and was a smart business lady. She worked as a bookkeeper for more than 50 years, up until she was 85 years young. She had the integrity to always to the right thing. She loved animals and was known to have owned more than 12 dogs at one time. She was the kind of lady who would rescue, and take any hurt animal to the vet, out of the goodness of her heart.

Survivors include her nieces, Malla Quay, Cyndi Kullback and husband Steve, all of Lufkin; great-nephews, Jimmy Hendrix of Broaddus, Jason Hopson; and great-nieces, Kim Hendrix of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Kay Bowers and husband Ricky.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helon Flora, Evelyn Drake, Edna Earl Doss; brothers, Don Spears, Millard Spears; and nephews, Butch Spears and Robert Allen Drake.
