Funeral services for Donald Lynn Sanders, Sr., 60, of Zavalla will be held Friday, August 7, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Pastor Steve Sanders and Pastor M.H. Shubert officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Sanders was born December 18, 1965 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Ruth Juanita (Hampshire) and Cecil Montess Sanders, and died Monday, August 3, 2026 at his residence.
Donald was a devoted family man who lived his life with love, generosity, and dedication. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on cars, and reading classic Western novels. A true jack of all trades, there was little he couldn’t fix or figure out. He was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was known for his kind heart and willingness to serve others. Donald also inherited his well-known stubborn streak from his mother, a trait that those who loved him remember with a smile. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Sarah, whose life he filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Donald especially enjoyed keeping his beloved wife, Sarah, on her toes with his playful sense of humor and mischievous personality. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sarah (Vance) Sanders; children and spouses, Sirena Sanders, Felicia and CJ Dooley, Maddie and Tony Beam II, Ashley Lee, Ervin Peden, Robert Peden, Charles Peden and Jen Stormer, Daniel Sanders, and Donald, Jr. and Jacqui Sanders; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Steve and wife Melissa Sanders, Lori Sanders, Alvin Sanders, and Annette Sanders; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved with all his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Malinda and Reatha; grandson, Eros Sanders; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Sanders, Jr., Charles Peden, Ervin Peden, Daniel Sanders, Tony Beam II, CJ Dooley, Greg Weisinger, and all his grandsons.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon prior to the services.
