Funeral services for Donald Gregory “Greg” Kendrick, 65, of Lufkin will be held Monday, July 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery.

Greg was born September 30, 1960 in Lufkin, Texas to James Carroll “J.C.” Kendrick, Sr. and Callie Kendrick, and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, July 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family

He spent his entire life in the community he loved, graduating from Hudson High School in 1979 before beginning a lifelong career as a telephone man. Greg faithfully served the people of East Texas through Consolidated Communications, where he worked for many years before retiring.

On January 9, 1982, Greg married the love of his life, Robbie Burnett Kendrick. For 44 years, they shared a beautiful marriage built on love, faith, commitment, and God’s grace. Greg often said Robbie was the love of his life, and through every trial they faced together, God remained faithful. Together, they built a Christ-centered home and raised a family that became one of Greg’s greatest earthly blessings.

If Greg could leave one message behind, it would simply be this: “I love Jesus.” Greg often said, “I thank the Lord I know where I’m going. Heaven is my eternal home.” More than anything else, he wanted people to know the Savior who had changed his life. His unwavering faith in Christ was the foundation of everything he did. Through every season of life - including more than a decade of battling cancer - Greg never lost his hope, his joy, or his trust in the Lord. His faith remained steadfast, and he lived each day with the assurance that Heaven was his eternal home.

Greg found joy in the simple blessings of life. He loved cooking for family and friends, beekeeping, gardening, tending to his cattle, playing the guitar, and singing. He especially treasured the time he spent with his family.

While these hobbies brought him joy, nothing on earth meant more to Greg than Jesus and his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an incredibly proud Papa. His greatest earthly treasures were the moments spent with his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, family, and friends.

No one can say Greg didn’t fight a good fight. For more than ten years, he courageously battled cancer with remarkable strength and unwavering faith. Cancer took many things from Greg, but it never took his faith. Though his body grew weaker, his trust in Jesus never wavered. He trusted the Lord through every doctor’s appointment, every treatment, every setback, and every victory. Today, Greg is completely healed. Free from pain and suffering, he is standing in the presence of Jesus Christ, walking the streets of gold and singing, “Glory!” to the Savior he loved with all his heart.

Greg is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Robbie Burnett Kendrick; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley Kendrick White and Joshua O’Neal White; daughter, Rachel Denise Kendrick; his cherished granddaughters, Emma Faith White and Chloe June White, who, in Greg’s words, brought a new youth to an old body and filled his life with immeasurable joy; his brothers and sisters, Allen and Lesa Kendrick, Carol and Brad Barrington, and John and Sabrina Kendrick; his very special family, Brandon and Amy Tyer and their children, Sadie and Brody, whom he loved as his own. Though Greg never had a son by birth, he often said Brandon was the son God gave him. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends who were blessed to know and love him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Carroll “J.C.” Kendrick Sr. and Callie Kendrick; his brother, James Carroll Kendrick Jr.; and his sister, Linda Kendrick Stout.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Tyer, Brody Tyer, Kyle Brandli, Bryan Baker, Brandon White, and Justin White.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Farrell, James Farrell, George Burnett, Mike McFarland, and lifelong friends and former coworkers from LCTX.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Hospice in the Pines, the physicians, nurses, and staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the Foundry Assembly of God church family. Thank you for your exceptional care, your countless prayers, your encouragement, and the love you so faithfully showed Greg and our family throughout this journey. We will never forget your kindness.

Although our hearts are broken and we will miss Greg more than words can express, we rejoice knowing his faith has become sight. His battle is over, his healing is complete, and Heaven - his eternal home - is now his forever home.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
