Dirk Jason Crawford

Funeral services for Dirk Jason Crawford, 66, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Denman Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Jacob Fitzgerald and Greggory Biggs officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Rusk.

Mr. Crawford was born June 13, 1960 in Pasadena, Texas to Bonnie Jean (Biggs) and Buck Douglas Crawford, and died Thursday, August 27, 2026 in a Houston hospital.

It’s hard to put into words the type of man Dirk Crawford was. If you asked Google to define the word MAN, his picture would be what popped up.

But inside that hard shell he showed on the outside was a kind, soft-hearted, loving PeePaw. From the day his grandsons Hudson and Brooks were born, he went about life in a completely different way. They softened him more than I ever would have expected.

He worked very hard to ensure that his child and grandchildren would never want for anything. He was able to accomplish so many great things because his work ethic was simply unmatched.

But the most important part of Dirk’s life wasn’t his accomplishments. It wasn’t even his child or his grandchildren. The most important part of Dirk Crawford was his faith.

He leaned on the Lord through every hardship he ever faced. He immediately turned to God, and he was very knowledgeable about Scripture. His unwavering faith taught me a lot about life and what it means to be a man of God.

If you ever met Dirk and really got to know him, you knew right then and there that you would NEVER meet another man like him.

He took pride in owning and operating B&D Security for over 35 years. The thing he said made him happiest about his career was that people trusted him to keep them and their families safe. That’s a trust that doesn’t come easily.

Dirk was a very honest man, and his trust was very hard to earn. But once you had earned it, you had everything.

We spent so many evenings watching the sun go down, and whether we were at the deer lease or out on the water in his boat, God always became a part of the conversation. He couldn’t look at a beautiful view without giving credit to our Maker.

I spent night after night, for weeks, begging God for answers and for more time with my dad. I begged Him to bring Dad home.

God answered my prayers, but He answered them by teaching me one of the most important lessons of all.

He did take Dad home.

Maybe not in the way I was asking, but in a way that showed me He took Dad home to where Home was always meant to be.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Nolan and Avery Crawford of Lufkin; grandsons, Hudson Crawford and Brooks Crawford, both of Lufkin; mother, Bonnie Jean Mead of Lufkin; brothers, Drew Crawford of Lufkin and Buck Crawford of Oklahoma; great-nephew, Levi Perry; and the mother of Nolan, Lori Crawford of Lufkin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Buck Douglas Crawford; stepfather, Bill Mead; and niece, Summer Jane Crawford.

Pallbearers will be Brad Crawford, Gregg Biggs, Drew Crawford, Levi Perry, Nolan Crawford, and Hank Curbow.

Honorary pallbearer will be Buck Crawford.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
