Funeral services for Derwood “Bill” Cravy, 71, of Zavalla will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Reverend Linwood Dykes and Brother Jackson Colwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Tom Havard Cemetery.
Mr. Cravy was born August 30, 1946 in Buna, Texas to the late Emmer Lee (Ard) and Carson Cravy, and died Monday, October 30, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Cravy had resided in Zavalla for 45 years after residing in Caney Head, near Silsbee. He began his career with the Texas Highway Department in maintenance and finished his service of 31 years as a Crew Chief. He was known for his knowledge, expertise and understanding of road construction and maintenance. Mr. Cravy enjoyed ranching and trail riding. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Cravy of Zavalla; son, Bill and wife Amanda Cravy of Zavalla; daughter, Connie Cravy Hillyer of Zavalla; grandchildren, Tiffany Hillyer, Bridgett Hillyer, Joshua Cravy, Emily Cravy, and Mason Cravy, all of Zavalla; sisters, Ineze Watts of Woodville, Alline Dykes of Buna, and Annett Hoke of Evadale; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jimmy Cravy, Perry Cravy, Elmo Cravy, and Sye Carson Cravy; and sisters, Geraldine Bertrand and Bernice Reeves.
Pallbearers will be Lee Dhone, Harvey Watts, Jerry Cravy, Tommy Dykes, Jr., Daniel Hoke, and George Davis.
Honorary pallbearer will be Pete Burgess.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
