Graveside services for Dennis Walter Hohn of Lufkin will be held Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Berry Cemetery with Brother James Wagstaff officiating.

Dennis Walter Hohn, 72, gained his wings Monday, July 6, 2026, beginning his final adventure.

Dennis was born November 7, 1953 in Vancouver, BC, Canada, to the late Irma (Schmidt) and Walter Hohn, who emigrated from Poland to Canada during World War II. He grew up in Canada and earned an associate degree in Business. He also owned, alongside his mother, Gibson Garden Hotel in Gibson, BC, Canada.

After 23 years of friendship, Dennis found the love of his life, Katharine (Kathy) Davis, affectionately known as his “Yellow Rose of Texas”. Their friendship blossomed into a beautiful love story, and they were married October 25, 2018. Together they made their home in Lufkin, Texas.

Dennis dearly loved his wife, Kathy, and his family. He enjoyed traveling and seeking new adventures, attending concerts, cheering on the Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars, reading, and especially studying American history.

Dennis was a faithful member of Lancewood Baptist Church in Lufkin. He also volunteered at the Lufkin VFW Auxiliary Post 1836 alongside his wife whenever his health allowed.

Dennis will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of history, his kind heart, and the deep love he shared with his family and friends. Though he has taken his final adventure, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Katharine Hohn of Lufkin, Texas; mother-in-law, Lynda Davis of Lufkin, Texas; brother-in-law and wife, James and Lisa Davis of Lufkin, Texas; sister-in-law and husband, Rebecca and Austin Samford of Huntington, Texas; nieces and nephews, Halee Dry and Brendon Dry of Edmond, Oklahoma, Cory and Christine Samford of Sutton, Massachusetts, and Nick and Alice Carrell of Broaddus, Texas; great-nieces and great-nephews, Sophia Samford, Benjamin Samford, Sheyanna Wright, Savannah Carrell, Anneliese Carrell, Macy Bennefield and Barrett Bennefield; and cousin, Carol and husband Dennis Jones of Seattle, Washington.
