Dean Lee

Funeral services for Dean Lee, 86, of Lufkin will be Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Cowart and Brother Charles Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Dean Lee was born November 27,1937 in Knobel, Arkansas to the late Opal Mae (Goodman) and Marshall Clay Lee, and died Friday, September 6, 2024, in a Lufkin hospice facility.

Dean proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for eight years. He made Lufkin his hometown and resided there for the majority of his life. He retired from Temple Inland after 25 years and attended Trinity Baptist Church. A favorite pastime was bass fishing. His son, Bobby fondly remembers the times they spent together on the lake while his Dad taught him how to fish. Another pastime was his love of playing music with his friends and being in a band.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marilyn Lee; brother, Jim Lee; and mother-in-law, Christine Bass.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Nancy Lee of Diboll; grandsons, Zachary, Thomas and Ethan Lee; stepchildren, Stephanie and husband Eddie Wisenbaler III, Jimmy Sloan and wife Angie, Vincent Sloan and wife Carrie, Paul Armstrong II and wife Christy; step-grandson, Eddie Wisenbaler IV; special friend, Leroy Melancon; cousin, Doll Cochran; and numerous friends.

Pallbearers will be Zachary, Thomas, and Ethan Lee, Jimmy and Vincent Sloan, and Paul Armstrong.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the tireless team at Hospice in the Pines for the tender care provided to Mr. Lee in his final days.

The family would like to welcome everyone to join us for a meal at Trinity Baptist Church beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday morning prior to the service.
