Dean Wallace Hines

Graveside services for Dean Wallace Hines, 79, of Diboll, will be held Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Josh Poage and Pastor Kevin Poage officiating.

Mrs. Hines was born January 16, 1940 in the Gobblers Knob Community, Angelina County, Texas, to the late Yule (Sessions) and Wayne Holliman Wallace, and died Wednesday, April 3, 2019 in a local hospital.

Dean was a people person and enjoyed her working career at Total Truck Stop, where she retired after 12 years of service in 1998. In retirement, she nurtured her flower gardens and vegetable garden and loved spending time in her greenhouse. She also was a master seamstress and enjoyed her crocheting.

Dean was a member of Better Together Ladies Ministry of Clawson Assembly of God where she loved her spiritual sisters. She attended Clawson and was looking forward to returning to services as her health permitted.

She was affectionately known as “Moma Dean”, especially to the friends of her precious late granddaughter, Melissa Rene Baxter Simmons, whom she adored.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James Hines of Diboll; daughter, Phyllis Ann Barfield and husband Bobby of Diboll; sister, Glenda Draper and husband Jim of Bossier City, Lousiana; brother, Gayland Wallace and wife Elaine of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Cindi Wallace of Waukesha, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews, Kathryn, Randy, Jannah, Foy, Madison, Matthew, Stacia, and Victoria; special friends, Tami Taylor and Susan Ingle; and her sweet adopted grandbaby, Baby Braxley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved granddaughter, Melissa Rene; and her adored baby brother, Lonnie.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Barfield, James Rush Barfield, David Crunk, Esteban Cavazos, Baltazar Lara, and Steve Baker.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Berry, Gayland Wallace, Charles D. Mills, Jack McDaniel, Bruce Durhan and Charles Stephen Mills.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Melissa Rene Baxter Simmons Diboll High School Scholarship Fund, Attn: Kathy Wells, P.O. Box 550, Diboll, Texas 75941.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Brother Daniel Hagan will deliver a eulogy at 7:00 p.m. during visitation.
