David Giles Parnell

Funeral services for David Giles Parnell, 35, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Kris King officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Low’s Chapel Cemetery near Hemphill in Sabine County.

David was born May 12, 1990 in Galveston, Texas and died Saturday, July 12, 2025 in Lufkin, Texas.

David had worked at various jobs, including jobs at Lufkin Coca-Cola, Grease Monkey and Cook Tire & Service Center. He found pure joy on the softball field, especially when he was there with his daughter. Coaching wasn’t just about the game for him, it was about teaching life lessons, building confidence, and forming strong bonds with every girl on the team. He had a way of making each one feel seen and supported. David was also the kind of friend everyone hopes for - loyal to the core and always there when you needed him, no questions asked. Above all, he loved his mom with every part of his heart. That love ran deep and never wavered.

Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Hicks; daughter, Presley Parnell; son, Preston Parnell; girlfriend, Ralin Doyen; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Norma Solly; grandfather, Giles Solly; aunt, Brenda Creel; and uncle, Billy Ray Creel.

Pallbearers will be Josh Jones, Eddie Creel, Josh Linton, Dustin Mouton, Trey Derbonne, and Jr. Hernandez.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
