David C. Morgan

Funeral services for David C. Morgan, 81, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Chestnut Drive Baptist Church with Brother Blackie Cranford and Brother Nathan Davis officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Arnold Cemetery in Cherokee County.

Mr. Morgan was born November 18, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Mary Frances (Solley) and J.P. Morgan, and died Monday, August 10, 2026 in a local hospital.

David was a lifelong resident of Lufkin and retired from Consolidated Communications after more than 30 years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. David was a faithful member of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. All who knew him knew his love for the Lord, his family, hunting, fishing, and hard work. He touched countless lives and every stranger he met became family to him. David treasured his family, especially his great-grandbabies. He was a renowned storyteller and knew how to light up every room he entered.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mitsy Morgan of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Byron and Jodi Morgan, Scotty and Candi Morgan, all of Lufkin; daughter, Angela Barton of Lufkin; grandchildren and their spouses, Anne Marie Morgan, Janie Kae Morgan, Zachary and Kippie Morgan, Kelsi and Jacob Davis, Justin and Lola Malnar, Brandon Malnar; great-grandchildren, Creed Morgan, Della Morgan, Courtlend Davis, Carver Kate Davis, Collyn Davis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip Morgan and Marilyn Powell, Eddie and Myra Morgan, all of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Carole Morgan Sheffield of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dewey K Morgan; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Davis, Zach Morgan, Justin Malnar, Brandon Malnar, Jarod Murphy, and Scott Fair.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pate Fenley, Paul Fenley, Steve Powell, and Starkey Sorrell.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the service at the church.
