David Arthur Dunman, Jr.

Mar 11, 1959 — Jun 25, 2026

Lufkin, TX

Funeral services for David Arthur Dunman, Jr., 67, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerod Yancey officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Dunman was born March 11, 1959 in Lufkin, Texas to Doris (Hollingsworth) and David Arthur Dunman, Sr., and died Thursday, June 25, 2026 in a local hospice facility after a long, hard fight with cancer.

From a young age, David had a sharp mind and was a natural problem solver. After graduating from Lufkin High School, he began his career as a licensed electrician, working with multiple companies before eventually retiring from LUDCO Inc. in 2024.

Outside of work, David liked spending his free time outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and in his younger years, riding his motorcycle. He also loved a good fish fry or crawfish boil, often hosting family and friends to delicious food and endless laughter.

David was a lifelong baseball fan. While he enjoyed playing the game himself as a kid, his love of baseball grew even more watching his son and grandsons play. From the ballpark, to cheerleading events, to piano and dance recitals, David loved supporting his kids in all their endeavors. He was always extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments.

More than anything, David loved his family. While we miss him dearly, David will be remembered in every baseball game, crawfish boil, and family gathering.

Survivors include his daughters, Shana Patrick and Diana Dunman; son and daughter-in-law, Damon and Chrissy Dunman; grandchildren, Dawson, Dallas, Davis and Daxton Dunman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debra and Steve Thornton, and Deidre and Stephen Casper; a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and special friend of the family and caregiver, Rosie McCoy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Steve Thornton, Steve Casper, Jason Ashworth, Rick Youngblood, David Steptoe, and Cliff Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Berry, Joe Sheddan, Wayne Waggonner, and Hank Waggonner.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at MD Anderson and Hospice in the Pines for their exceptional care and compassion.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the service.
