Memorial services for David Bowley, Sr., 71, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Reed and Brother Marvin Slusher officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Bowley was born January 21, 1946 in Houston, Texas to the late Lillian Lavada (Montgomery) and Earl Newton Bowley, and died Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Lufkin.
Mr. Bowley had resided in Lufkin since 1969. He started working for Mustang Tractor in 1965 as a diesel mechanic, then moved into the position of Customer Service Representative for the next 32 years. Mr. Bowley excelled in this position and received recognition as one of the top Caterpillar Sales Reps on the North American Continent for five continuous years. He was referred to as “the best of the best” and was rewarded amply for his service to the company. He loved the logging industry and going into the woods to play in the dirt with those big yellow tractors. The last 15 years of a 47 year career were spent at Doggett Machinery Service.
After retirement, for the next five years he and his wife enjoyed the fruits of their labor and enjoyed many vacations in the United States as well as many foreign countries. They enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting with his best friend, David, Jr. Mr. Bowley was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, especially when he was able to attend the games. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Pam Bowley of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, David, Jr. and Denise Bowley of Lufkin; granddaughters, Laken Bowley of Denver, Colorado and Allicyn Bowley of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Billy O. and Raynell Bowley of Katy; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives; and his faithful canine companion, Tony.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel Mark Bowley; granddaughter, Amber Lyn Bowley; five brothers; and one sister.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
