Funeral services for Daniel A. “Danny” Rivera, 15, of Corrigan will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Corrigan-Camden High School Cafeteria/Gym with Reverend Diego Garzon and Reverend Phillip Corbett officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery.
Danny was born December 14, 2009 in Lufkin, Texas to Emilia and Jose Rivera, and died Friday, October 3, 2025 in Houston.
Our angel, Danny Rivera, left this world too soon, but his impact will be felt forever. At just 15 years old, he lived a life that inspired countless people with his kindness, compassion, and generosity. Danny loved spending time with his family, fishing and hunting, and always lending a hand on their projects. He enjoyed playing the drum or guitar at church and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. His Bulldog family called him "Big Dawg"; a tough player and a strong weightlifter. But the ladies knew him as a respectful teddy bear with a beautiful sweet and gentle smile.
Danny was the family dessert chef, preparing delicious cakes and banana milkshakes for birthdays and special occasions. His family's kitchen will always have "Danny's Menu" on display. He took pride in his work, whether it was repairing cars, helping with chores like sweeping and mopping, or mowing the lawn with impeccable attention to detail. You'd never find Danny on the couch; he was always ready for the next move. As a co-pilot, Danny was second to none, always turning on the music before you even pulled out of the driveway. His big personality, humor, and his most recent catchphrases (like "6-7" or "Bruh") will be sorely missed. Danny was a generous and caring soul, always looking for ways to help others, even emptying his wallet to donate his earnings to those in need. Danny was a bright and curious student, always eager to learn and discover new ideas. He won many medals and was on the honor roll, impressing everyone with his intelligence and work ethic. We thank his wonderful teachers and coaches who helped him become the person he became. To his childhood friends and family who loved him unconditionally; thank you so much for loving Danny.
Danny was a proud Mexican, Salvadoran, and a Felipe, who bore his last name with great respect and humility, honoring his cultural heritage and the values it represents. He loved his family and his roots, and that was reflected in everything he did. God made sure to send him to his Abuelita’s house one more time for a big hug.
Danny was the pride of his loving parents, José and Emilia Rivera; the best brother to Lalo, Paco, and Mili Rivera; and a great owner to his puppy, Osito. He will always be the perfect grandson to his Abuelitas Felipa Felipe and Irma Rivera. He was a loving and beautiful nephew to many aunts and uncles, and the greatest and coolest cousin. Danny was blessed to know his siblings, Karol, Jose, and Abigail Rivera; as well as a niece and nephew, Sharon and Jeremy.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Francisco Vargas and Mateo Felipe Cruz, and his twin brothers, Jorge and Emmanuel Rivera.
Pallbearers will be Jose, Jose A., Angel and Francisco Rivera, Francisco, Leonardo, Jose Luis, Fernando, David and Julian Felipe, Justo and Sergio Zuniga, Esteban, Luis and Aiden Trejo, Randy and Roberto Zamora, Jose, Javi and Sebastian Lopez, Joseph T., Mateo, Joseph L. and Rogelio Olige, Jose and Miguel Zamora, Mario Carbajal, Robert McAdams, Jose, Eli and EZ Mercado.
Honorary pallbearers will be Uriel Danini, Adrian Hinojosa, Bentlee Durham, Leibi Ascensio, CCHS Football Team and the Class of 2028.
Danny was a child of God, and his faith was evident in his way of life. His passion was having a relationship with God; you invited him to your church, and he was there. He prayed the most beautiful prayers and gathered many young people to pray and express their love for one another in the last week of his life. This is the legacy he leaves to us: to plant that seed of Faith and trust in God.
May the memory of Danny always remind you of the angel God sent us for 15 years.
