Daniel Huerta, Sr.

Funeral services for Daniel Huerta, Sr., 75, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church Lufkin with Reverend Joe Stanley officiating, with eulogies by Victor Huerta, Jeremy Huerta, Francelia McKnight, and Maricela Lucio. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.

Mr. Huerta was born May 14, 1943 in Vallecillo, Tamaulipas, Mexico to the late San Juana (Garcia) and Pablo Huerta, and died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in a Tyler hospital.

Formerly of Orange, Mr. Huerta had resided in Lufkin for 11 years. He retired from Mundy Construction where he was a welder. Mr. Huerta loved gardening and mowing, and liked building crafts. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church Lufkin and loved working with the church bus ministry.

Survivors include his wife, Cristela (Riojas) Huerta of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel, Jr. and Mona Huerta of Deweyville and David and Belinda Huerta of Orange; daughter, Arcelia Huerta Lucio of Deweyville; grandchildren, Jeremiah Huerta, Kayla Thacker, Jeremy Huerta, Danielle Huerta, Francelia McKnight, Maricela Lucio, Victor Huerta, Josh Huerta, and Judah Huerta; nine great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Paulina Ramos of Laredo, Rosa Segura of Bridge City, Oralia and Ray Gonzalez, and Irma and Honoria Vega, all of Laredo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Antonio and Elva Huerta of Laredo and Jesus and Maria Huerta of Spring; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roberto Huerta.

Pallbearers will be David Huerta, Daniel Huerta, Jr., Victor Huerta, Jeremiah Huerta, Jeremy Huerta, Jesus Huerta, and Judah Huerta.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Pentecostal Church Lufkin Building Fund, 3200 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
