Funeral services for Dan Haden Legg, 64, of Pollok will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Dan was born June 22, 1961 in Houston, Texas to the late Loudene (Clifton) and Lowell Thomas Legg, and passed away Friday, March 20, 2026 at Woodland Heights Medical Center.
Dan retired from Hartmann Building Specialties in 2022, where his dedication and knowledge were beyond compare; he gave 110% and took pride in everything he did. He had a knack for anything mechanical and could engineer just about anything to somehow make it work. He loved fishing, hunting, anything that went fast or the challenge of making it faster. He had a competitive quality, which showed the most when he played dominoes--it was a privilege to be his partner because it usually meant you were going to win. Those who knew him looked forward to his endless jokes and stories, which he told to see others smile. But to his wife, he was a hopeless romantic and wanted nothing more than to see her happy. He was a loving and dedicated husband and father; honest, loyal, and hardworking with a deep love and care for his family that he carried with him until his last day. He is smiling down on us now while he fishes with his brother and eats cake with his grandsons again.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 47 years, Sheila Legg; children and their spouses, Kristy and Timothy Forsythe, Jessica and Buddy Copeland, Kimberly and Steve Hopkins, and Alexander and Kathleen Legg; grandchildren, Jacob Forsythe, Madison Forsythe, Brooke Copeland, Dustyn Brame, Lauren Brame, Chase Legg, Ryan Legg, Ethan Legg, Devin Forrest, and Jarod Forrest; great-grandson, Westyn Legg; siblings and their spouse, Theresa and Virgil Fox, Steve and Cyndi Legg; loved by mother-in-law, Martha Starkey; sisters-in-law, Sharon Halsell, Paula Legg, Tammy Starkey, Sonya Starkey, and Dawn Legg; and brother-in-law, Thomas Starkey and wife, Laura. He will be missed by countless others from his extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Loudene Legg; brother, Clay Legg; grandsons, Lowell Thomas Lee Forsythe and Riley Joe Copeland; father-in-law, Albert Starkey; and brothers-in-law, Joe Carl Halsell and Alan Legg.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the service.
