Connie Edwards Whatley was born on August 16, 1955 and joined our Lord and Savior in Heaven on October 29, 2017. Her life is celebrated by her loving and devoted family. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and now is at peace in the arms of her Savior.
Ms. Whatley was born in Houston, Texas but proudly claimed the Piney Woods of East Texas as her life-long home. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1973 and continued her studies at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Her career began working in the insurance industry alongside her father. Later in life, she compassionately cared for the elderly.
While her greatest passion was that of loving and caring for her daughters and precious grandchildren, she opened her heart to everyone she knew. She never met a stranger and had a great love and appreciation for music, art and nature.
Her life is cherished by her daughters, Alexis Whatley of Lufkin and Laura Gray and husband Ross of Hudson; grandchildren, Daisy Gray, Roman Gray, and Nathaniel “Nate” Mahan; parents, Nathan and Frankie Edwards of Huntington; sisters, Karen Edwards Funk and husband Bob of Brenham and Melanie Edwards Roach and husband Jonathan of The Woodlands; nephews and nieces, Jonathan Funk, Payton Funk, Millicent Roach, Grayson Roach, Shelly Ursery, and Holly Kozal; father of Alexis and Laura, Gary Whatley of Stonewall, Louisiana; and family, Sandra and Dan Ursery of Shreveport, Louisiana.
