Collis Modisette

Funeral services for Vernon Collis Modisette, 65, of Pollok will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Cowart, Ron Smith, and A.W. Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Collis was born January 25, 1953 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Velma Dee (Palmore) and Leonard Ervin Modisette, and died Saturday, February 10, 2018 at The Joseph House in Lufkin.

Collis was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He retired from Lufkin Industries following 40 years of employment. Collis enjoyed hunting and being in the outdoors. He loved his family, and Pop cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Collis enjoyed spending time with his brother and numerous friends. Collis had a number of special friends, and always made a lasting impression on all he came in contact with. He would help anyone in need, doing anything for anybody, and wanting nothing in return. Collis loved his Lord. He was a member of O’Quinn Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Joy Modisette; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason Brent and Carol Modisette and Jeremy Wade and Angie Modisette; grandchildren, Lance Modisette, Erin Modisette, Rachel Modisette, Joshua “Bob” Modisette, and Natali Wooten; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Jeanne Modisette; mother-in-law, Nellie Jones; sister-in law and brother-in-law, Jeanie and Mike Alexander; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Patsy Modisette; grandparents, Dewitt and Mary Alice Palmore and John and Nora Modisette; and father-in-law, L.C. Jones.

Pallbearers will be Royce Oliver, Rocky Thigpen, Billy Calhoun, Steve Dent, Mervel Jones, Roy Westbrook, Jon Alexander, Eric Modisette, and David Alexander.

Honorary pallbearers will be the 1971 graduates of Central High School and members of the Royal Hunting Club in Crockett.

The family extends special thanks and appreciation to the staffs of M.D. Anderson and The Joseph House for their care and compassion.
