Clyde Ronald Raley

A Celebration of the Life of Clyde Ronald Raley, 88, of Lufkin will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at First United Methodist Church, Lufkin, Texas. A private burial will precede the service. The family will host a reception at Crown Colony Country Club following the memorial service.

Father, Clyde Ivon Raley and mother, Birdie Emily (Gist) Raley, gave birth to Clyde Ronald Raley August 12, 1935 in Haskell, Texas and he died September 26, 2023 in Lufkin, Texas.

Ron grew up and graduated high school in Winnsboro, Texas. He attended higher education at East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas where he met the love of his life, Barbara June Boozer. The two were married August 17, 1958 in Sulphur Springs, Texas and thus began a love story that would last a lifetime. Ron and Barbara moved to Lufkin where they started their family while he worked in sales for the H.D. Lee Company. In 1970, Ron and Barbara moved to Jasper, Texas where they owned and operated the Western Auto Store with their three sons. You could find Ron teaching the boys life lessons that they continue to use to this day. Ron was a true family man who was dedicated to his wife, children and grandchildren. He wished to gently impart his wisdom to each of them, never judging, always nudging and inspiring them to be their best. His laughter, smile and gentle greeting, “Hey Partna” always made you feel his love. Barbara would follow Ron anywhere. This included moving overseas to Kuwait where they worked with Richard during the Second Gulf War. In 2009, Ron and Barbara retired to Lufkin, Texas to enjoy time with their family, friends and community.

Ron enjoyed being outside in his yard, gardening, golfing and especially bird hunting with Barbara. Above all else, Ron’s most precious and biggest hobby was being with his wife Barbara and the family they created together. He loved going to all the grandchildren’s events and cherishing his time with family.

Ron is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Raley; their sons, Richard, Stephen, Ryan and wife Melissa; their grandchildren, Kyle, Randa, Rachel and husband Jake, Jarret, Cooper and wife Rachel, and Marci; and their great-grandson, JC.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Birdie Raley; and his sister, Pat.

Pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren.
