Clay Thomas Legg, 64, of Pollok died Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in Lufkin. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Legg was born May 19, 1960 in Houston, Texas to the late Loudene (Clifton) and Lowell T. Legg.
Mr. Legg was an avid outdoorsman and bass fisherman and loved being out on the boat as much as possible. He competed in several bass tournaments - that’s when he was happiest. Mr. Legg also enjoyed watching western movies and sitting on the porch on a cool morning with his Jack Russel Pete (his faithful companion that followed him everywhere) while having a cup of coffee. He loved grilling and smoking meat for family dinners. He adored his family and enjoyed spending his time with them. He liked hanging out with his brothers Steve and Dan, and his friend Kevin.
Mr. Legg was stubborn and opinionated, but very much loved by all those around him. He wasn’t a religious man but a spiritual man who recognized his Father in Heaven.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Dawn (Pugh) Legg; daughters, Jennifer Tell, Melanie Thamm, and Kerri Hollenbach; stepdaughters, Ashley Hauser and Kayla Pugh; sister, Theresa Fox and husband Virgil; brothers, Steve Legg and wife Cyndi, and Dan Legg and wife Shelia; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter, Brandi Shepherd.
