Claudia Sue (Register) Luce

Jan 10, 1928 — Aug 7, 2026

Lufkin, TX

Funeral services for Claudia Sue (Register) Luce, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Brother John Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.

Mrs. Luce was born January 10, 1928 in Vernon, Texas to the late Minnie Sue (Withers) and Claude Register, and passed away peacefully Friday, August 7, 2026 in Lufkin, Texas, after a long and well-lived life. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, unwavering love for her family, and the many lives she touched throughout her 98 years.

Claudia was a devoted daughter, the oldest of eight siblings, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and cherished friend. She lived her life devoted to Christ, showing compassion, grace, and quiet determination. Although many would describe her as quite a character, she always showed her love by putting the needs of those she cared about before her own. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Known to many simply as "Granny," she found joy in life's simple blessings. She loved her many years at Lufkin Lane Bowling Alley, where she bowled in numerous leagues and formed lifelong friendships. In her later years, she became well known for the many crocheted blankets she lovingly made and gifted too many family and friends—blankets that are now cherished in homes throughout Lufkin and beyond. Granny treasured every moment spent with her faithful four-legged companion, Pepper, as well as the time she shared with her family and church family—telling stories, celebrating holidays, and creating a home filled with love, warmth, and comfort. Through her unwavering faith in Christ, unconditional love, boundless, compassion, remarkable strength, wisdom, and enduring resilience, she inspired generations of her family.

Claudia “Granny” leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through her children: her daughter, Claudia Petty, and husband, Tom Petty; daughter-in-law, Sharon Luce; son, Karry Luce, and wife, Janice Luce. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; extended family members, Sue Stone, Loree Holt, and Elton Musik Sr.; as well as many dear friends. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Aubrey Luce Sr., whom she had waited 37 years to see again; her parents, Claude and Minnie Register; and her son, Aubrey Luce, Jr. We find immeasurable comfort in knowing they have welcomed her into eternal peace, where they are joyfully reunited once again.

The family invites all who knew Claudia to remember her not with sadness alone, but with gratitude for the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared so freely.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23

May she rest in eternal peace watching over all she loved from Heaven above.

Pallbearers will be John Petty, Eric Smith, Coy Smith, Joseph Loggins, Stephen Luce, and Wyatt Luce.

Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Luce.
