Funeral services for Christine James, 82, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doyle Hodge and Pastor Dennis Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mrs. James was born July 17, 1941 in Grapeland, Texas to the late Ruby Lena (Collier) and Sydney Jenkins, and died Wednesday, January 10, 2024 in Lufkin.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Karen James, Frank and Marion James, and Joe and Beate James; grandchildren, Jennifer and Josh, Jimmy and Tasha, Micheal, Jessica, Catherine, Daniel, Zachary and Kelly, Caleb, and Cathy; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years, Ben James; sons, Robert James, Richard James, and David James; grandchildren, Vannesa James and Delton James; brothers, Cleo Jenkins, Sydney Jenkins and Richard Jenkins; and sisters, Joyce Wilson, Martha Ivy, Shirley Rodenbough, and Avis Welch.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy James, Heather James, Micheal James, Elton James, Angela James, Hunter James, Henry Baker, and Johnny James.

Honorary pallbearers will be Aiden James and Alan Wayne James.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
