Funeral services for Charlie Dale “Chuck” Skinner, 88, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Harmony Hill Baptist Church with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mr. Skinner was born November 30, 1929 in Corrigan, Texas to the late Lela (Loving) and Bethel Skinner, and died Saturday, August 11, 2018 in Lufkin.
Mr. Skinner had resided in Lufkin for more than 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years then worked as a Purchaser for Lufkin Industries for 12 years. He coached Lufkin Youth Baseball for many years. Mr. Skinner was a member and Deacon at Harmony Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Skinner of Lufkin; daughters and son-in-law, Kathy Gafford and Gail and Norm Philippi, all of Lufkin; grandsons, Chad Cogburn of Tennessee and Ryan Skinner of Lufkin; great-granddaughter, Amelia Cogburn of Florida; stepson and daughter-in-law, Billy and Linda Edwards of Hudson; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ron Turner of Hudson; step-grandchildren and spouses, Courtney and James Weisel of Huntington, Britnie Friday of Humble, Ryan Edwards of Hudson, Victoria Friday, Kelby Jones, both of Lufkin, Jayce and Levi Mitchmore of Humble; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jesse B. and Helen Skinner of Spring and Crosby and Gladys Skinner of Conroe; sister, Barbara Lewing of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Becky Seymore of Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lerlean Skinner; son, Ronald “Ronnie” Skinner; brothers, Raymond Skinner and Jerry Skinner; brothers-in-law, Don Seymore, James Seymore, Tilford Seymore and Billy Lewing; and sisters-in-law, Beth Yates, Willie Mae Moore, Minnie Cheatham, Cynthia Skinner, and Jean Skinner.
Pallbearers will be Don Wayne Crager, Kyle Rice, Wayne Waggoner, Mark Harris, Kristin Greene, Jackie Yates, Russell Harvey, and Tommy Seymore.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Hill Baptist Church, 2708 S. Chestnut Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
