Charlie C. Horton

December 21, 1935 — February 23, 2018

Funeral services for Charlie C. Horton, 82, of Lufkin will be held Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Stanley, Reverend Ronnie Frankens, and Reverend Jason Heisler officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Horton was born December 21, 1935 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Edith (Gipson) and Benjamin Franklin Horton, and died Friday, February 23, 2018 in a local hospice facility.

Mr. Horton was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He retired from the United State Postal Service following more than 30 years of service. Mr. Horton loved working his cows and horses and enjoyed trips to Branson with his wife. He was a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M., and a member of First United Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Gary Ward of Diboll and Susan and Ben Heisler of Jacksonville; grandchildren, LeAnn Castillo and husband Joe of Hillsboro, Brandon Ward of Bowie, Brian Heisler of Jacksonville, Jason Heisler of Marshall, and Jennifer Heisler of Jacksonville; great-grandchildren, Tristan and Aiden Castillo; sister-in-law, Winona Horton of Livingston; nephew, Bo Smith of Diboll; and a number of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce (Wilkins) Horton; two brothers; and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Joe Castillo, Brandon Ward, Brian Heisler, Jason Heisler, James Crawford, and Bobby Cheshire.

Honorary pallbearer will be David Gaulden.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Pentecostal Church Building Fund or Bible Quizzers, 3200 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
