Funeral services for Charles Douglas Loeffler, 66, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bennie Boles officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Charlie was born August 17, 1952 in San Antonio, Texas, the son of the late Myrtle (Haecker) and Edgar J. Loeffler. He died Thursday, September 27, 2018 in a Lufkin hospice facility.
Charlie was a heavy equipment operator and had worked for Jack Alexander, Longs Underground Technology, and Ray Davis Utilities for over 45 years. He was hardworking, dedicated and dependable. In his free time, Charlie loved going to the lake, fishing, and hunting. He always looked forward to barbequing and family get-togethers. He was known as “Pop” to his grandchildren, whom he adored and loved tremendously. Charlie was a kind, loving soul and will be dearly missed. He was a loving father, grandfather, and husband to the love of his life, Doris, for more than 45 years.
Survivors include daughter, Jennifer Mangrum and husband Mark of Lufkin; son, Brad Loeffler and wife Christie of Lufkin; grandchildren, Lauren Loeffler, Jaylyn Jones, Brailey Loeffler, Autumn Loeffler, Justin Mangrum, Madison Mangrum, Madison Grady, and Dillon Grady; great granddaughter, Tensley Rosales; sisters, Barbara Walker and friend Russell Knott of Lufkin, Lillian Saathoff of Hondo, and Ruth Daumas and husband Ken of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Whisenant and husband Jerry, Linda Stephens, all of Lufkin, and Billie Scogin of Apple Springs; brother-in-law, Willard Anderson of Lufkin; special friends, Don and Cindy Blake, Don and Luran Pittmon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Loeffler was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Doris Bennett Loeffler on August 29, 2018; and brothers-in-law, Garry Walker and Clenus Saathoff.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Daumas, Todd Walker, Ken Daumas, Dillon Grady, Justin Mangrum and Donald Pittmon.
Honorary pallbearers are Don Blake and Don Pittmon.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Hospice in the Pines for their loving care of Mr. Loeffler.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
