Charles "Gabe" Gabehart

Memorial services for Charles "Gabe" Gabehart, 85, of Huntington will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Huntington First Baptist Church with Dr. Darryl Smith and Chaplain Timothy A. Roberts officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Gabehart was born January 13, 1932 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Flo Guinn Parker and James Andrew Gabehart, and died Friday, October 13, 2017 in Huntington.

Mr. Gabehart had resided in Huntington most of his life. He grew up and met his wife in Houston and spent years in Dallas and Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was a Sergeant while serving his country in the United States Marines from 1947-1952, and then was an entrepreneur in construction, oil and gas, and many other businesses. He loved golf and was a NASCAR fan. He enjoyed driving and working on cars, or anything he could get his hands on to fix. Mr. Gabehart had a passion for helping others. He was a member of Kiwanis and also a member of Huntington First Baptist Church. More than anything he loved spending time coaching, teaching, mentoring his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and was known by all as "Dad".

Survivors include his wife, Minta Sue Gabehart of Huntington; son, Ricky Gabehart of Houston; daughters, Charyse Gee and husband Gary of Huntington and Neena Vogelsang of Hartford, Wisconsin; sons, Kelly Gabehart and wife Laurie of Lufkin, Andrew Gabehart and wife Angie of Coppell, Austin Adams and wife Nicole of Round Rock, and Houston Adams of Huntington; grandchildren, Amy Sepulveda, Allison Allen, Keith Gee, Kara Farnsworth, Kayli Dearing, Adam Wallace, Michael Wallace, Sarah McGlothin, Beckie Haas, Bobby Gabehart, Billy Gabehart, Ryan Henderson, Kirstie Molandes, Nicole Gabehart, Noah Gabehart, Tyler Adams, Ryan Adams, Grace Adams, Aeryn Adams, Aidan Adams, and Laine Adams; 27 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John Hess and wife Pinkie of North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Ashley Gabehart; son-in-law, Thomas "Yogi" Vogelsang; and brothers, George Gabehart and Robert Gabehart.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, East Texas Regional Office, 304 N. Raguet Street, Suite C, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family would like to send special "Thanks and Love" to Maria Nerren with Harbor Hospice and all Charlie's caregivers.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon prior to the service at the church.
