Graveside services for Charles Lee Boulware, 91, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Zavalla Cemetery with Brother Jackson Colwell officiating.

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, Charles Lee Boulware, our cowboy, rode away to his Heavenly home. He was born October 26, 1933 in Zavalla, Texas to the late Frank Lee Boulware and Lola (Poulan) Boulware of Zavalla, Texas. He resided in Lufkin most of his life.

Mr. Boulware served in the U.S. Army and retired from TU Electric following 32 years of employment as an engineer. He loved rodeo and traveled throughout East Texas supplying rodeo bulls as B and B Rodeo.

He married Viola Mae Reed in Marion, Kansas in 1958. Following a relentless pursuit, she finally agreed to go out with him, and as they say, “The rest is history”. He was a doting and loving husband, father and grandfather, always putting his family first. His grandchildren called him “PaPa”, or more affectionately he was known as “Grumps”.

Mr. Boulware was an avid outdoorsman and loved all animals. He was a big joke teller and the family story teller. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Viola Mae Boulware of Lufkin; daughter, Cynthia Boulware Molandes and husband Kenneth of Lufkin; son, Jerry Boulware of Zavalla; daughter, Linda Boulware Smith and husband Alan of Hudson; grandchildren, Keith Molandes and wife Becky, Jason Molandes and wife Rachel, all of Lufkin, and Caitlyn Smith of Conroe; a number of great-grandchildren; and his fur babies, Poncho and Brandi.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Cristine Boulware.

Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Smith, Kenneth Molandes, Keith Molandes, Jason Molandes, Caitlyn Smith, Robyn Russell, and Martin Allen Hazlip.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice in the Pines and staff, Danielle, Angela, Jessica, Michele, and Carmen, the Inpatient nurse staff, and Wayne Evans.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon prior to the services.
