Chad Anthony Murray

Jun 13, 1972 — Jun 24, 2026

Lufkin, TX

Funeral services for Chad Anthony Murray of Lufkin will be held Monday, June 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Harmony Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Rowe officiating with eulogy by Sheriff Tom Selman. Cremation will follow under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Chad Anthony Murray, 54, was born June 13, 1972 in Lufkin, Texas, to Tony and Cindy (Gibson) Murray. He entered his heavenly home Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Chad dedicated his professional life to serving others. He served as Director of Distribution and Transportation for Brookshire Brothers, where he had just celebrated his remarkable 35-year milestone - a true testament to his loyalty and commitment. He was also a proud Deputy for the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office, fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a peace officer when he obtained his license at the age of 50. He cherished his role as a deputy, and the opportunity to work alongside his fellow officers and serve his community brought him tremendous joy.

Chad was a man who loved all people and embraced life to the fullest. You rarely found him sitting still - whether it was hunting, fishing, or golfing, he was always up for an adventure. But above all else, the most important thing in Chad's life was his family.

He married the love of his life, Emily, on September 13, 2013. She was his best friend and his greatest treasure. He was also immensely proud of his son, Caleb Anthony Murray, who honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and now serves as a Correctional Officer with the Texas Department of Corrections.

Chad was the one you called when you needed anything - and he would always show up, ready to help in any way he could. He had a gift for laughter and a heart for people, and he had a way of making everyone around him feel a little lighter.

Chad will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him - until that blessed day when we are reunited in Heaven.

Chad is survived by his wife, Emily (Hampton) Murray of Lufkin; son, Caleb Anthony Murray of Lufkin; parents, Tony and Cindy Murray of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Cory and Alisha Murray of Huntington; nephew, Conner Murray of Huntington; mother-in-law, Tammy Carswell Hampton of Lufkin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jason and Sarah Hampton Vest of Lufkin; and his beloved fur companion, Major Murray.

He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ricky Van Hampton; and grandparents, Obie and Opal Murray, James and Charlon Gibson, and Johnnie and Peggy Dunn.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Brookshire Brothers and the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office - not only for what you meant to Chad and Emily, but for your unwavering kindness and support during this unexpected and difficult time.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office and his co-workers at Brookshire Brothers.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
