Chad Nelson Gartman was born on September 10, 1973 in Lufkin, Texas to Carolyn Lowery Gartman and the late Wallace Gartman. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Chad was a devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He lived a life rooted in family, faith, and hard work. He loved to work outside on the tractor and backhoe. After graduating from the Angelina College Police Academy in 1994, Chad became a Texas Peace Officer and began his career in law enforcement. He served alongside Chuck Copeland as a Deputy Constable for nearly six years before joining the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as a Game Warden. In 2016, Chad was promoted to Assistant Commander. In this leadership role, he was responsible for strategic planning, inspections, and overseeing vehicle acquisitions and fleet operations for Game Wardens across the entire Lone Star State.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Ashley (Henson) Gartman of Lufkin; his sons, Stihl Gartman of South Carolina and Kord Gartman of Lufkin; his mother, Carolyn Gartman of Etoile; and his brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Victoria Gartman of Etoile. He is also survived by his niece, Madison Gartman of The Woodlands, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Gartman; grandparents, George and Geneva Lowery and Loyd and Rlou Gartman; and cousin, George Lowery IV.

Chad generously donated his body to UT McGovern Medical School, continuing his legacy of giving and service. The family will hold a celebration of his life at a later date. Details will be shared once arrangements are made.
