Cecilia Lynn "Cecil" Stark

Graveside services for Cecilia Lynn “Cecil” Stark, 75, of Huntington will be held next Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio.

Cecil was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 30, 1947 to Mark and Virginia Stark.

Cecil was a champion for those who were less fortunate. During the early AIDS crisis, she worked as a counselor and case worker at the San Antonio AIDS Foundation (SAAF) where she often sat holding the hand of residents of SAAF’s hospice unit as they transitioned from this life. She continued her commitment in giving to others in her work at Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) helping today’s youth through prevention programs until late in her battle with cancer.

To know Cecil was to know love and acceptance. She will be missed by everyone who knew her love, but especially her husband, George; brother, Tom and Partner Larry; son, Christopher; daughter-in-law, Amanda; daughter-in-law, Sarah; stepsons, Steve and Elton. Her greatest passion in life was her grandchildren, Hudson Jones, James Jones and Maclaren Jones.

Cecil is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Paul; and son, Mark.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. this Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
