Carroll Jean Ponson

Memorial services for Carroll Jean Ponson, 78, of Pollok will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ponson was born July 1, 1948 in Coronado, California to the late Louise Doris (James) and Darrell Emrie, and died Friday, September 18, 2026 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Ponson resided in Lufkin prior to moving to Pollok more than 40 years ago. She received her Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and taught school in Central ISD, retiring after 38 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved all animals, and especially enjoyed her dogs, who were her faithful companions, Buster, Daisy and Chevelle. Mrs. Ponson attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, John Ponson of Pollok; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Darla Ponson, Michael and Brandy Ponson, all of Pollok; grandchildren, Chase Ponson, Lane Ponson, Blake Ponson and wife Kourtney; and great-grandchildren, Lainey and Molly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Emrie.
