Funeral services for Carrel Reed, 87, of Corrigan will be held Monday, June 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church Corrigan with Brother C.G. “Buster” Griggs officiating. Order of the Eastern Star graveside services will follow and will be conducted by the Corrigan Chapter #631 which is now affiliated with the Groveton Chapter #1035 at Pine Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Reed was born October 31, 1938 in Camden, Texas to the late Bell Roy (Coe) and Juddie Travis Josey, and passed away Monday, June 22, 2026 in Corrigan, Texas.

Mrs. Reed had resided in Corrigan for most of her life. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas, and later attended East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She then went on to attend Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, where she earned her master’s degree in education.

Mrs. Reed was a teacher at Corrigan-Camden ISD for 20 years, upon retiring she taught English 101 at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. Whether gathering for the holidays, celebrating their milestones, or simply enjoying time together, she created memories that will be cherished by her family forever. She especially enjoyed family vacations, sharing new adventures and experiences with her loved ones. She also had a passion for reading and could be found with a good book in hand.

Mrs. Reed was a woman of faith who faithfully served the Lord throughout her life. Her faith guided her every step of the way and was her source of strength and comfort. She was a member of First Baptist Church Corrigan, where she also taught in the children’s program and was the Sunday School Director. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #631 which is now affiliated with the Groveton Chapter #1035.

Survivors include her son, Earl Hudson of Corrigan; granddaughter, Brittany Hudson of Corrigan; great-granddaughter, Briley Rae Karg; great-grandson, Camden Joseph Vann; nephews, John Lynn Josey, Karl Josey, and Roy Travis Josey; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clinton Hudson; second husband, Charles Reed; sister Earline Capehart; and brother, Jack Lynn Josey.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday morning prior to the services.
