Funeral services for Carl R. Hataway, 78, of the Homer Community will be held Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Shawn Hataway and Pastor Michael Harris officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery under the auspices of the Homer Masonic Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Hataway was born March 4, 1939 in Jacksonville, Texas to the late Reba Selma (Addison) and Douglas Hataway, and died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Hataway had resided in Angelina County most of his life. He graduated from Lufkin High School in 1957 and retired from Shell Oil Co. Mr. Hataway was a gifted carpenter and woodworker. He was a devoted father, loving husband, and by all accounts, a good man. Mr. Hataway was a member of Homer United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his son, Shawn Hataway of Wiggins, Mississippi; son and daughter-in-law, Robin and Stephanie Hataway of New Braunfels; daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Gary Frazier of Granbury; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 52 years, Judy Garland (Cheatham) Hataway.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
