Calvin James Scarbrough

Funeral services for Calvin James Scarbrough, 81, of Lufkin will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John W. Greene and Pastor Todd Core officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Scarbrough was born February 26, 1943 in Weatherford, Texas to the late Leta Joy (Woodruff) and Hershell Scarbrough, and died Friday, August 2, 2024 in a local facility.

Mr. Scarbrough resided in Lufkin most of his life. He retired as Senior Project Engineer from Lufkin Industries following 34 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Scarbrough was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Lynn (Dukes) Scarbrough of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Jeff Klingberg of Fort Worth; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Gigi Scarbrough of Plano; grandchildren and spouses, Brad and Sage Klingberg, Clayton and Cynthia Klingberg, Kelly Klingberg, and Catherine Scarbrough; great-grandchild, Carter Klingberg; and nieces, Michelle Pittard and Christy Corr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donnie Kay Johnston.

Pallbearers will be Brad Klingberg, Clayton Klingberg, Ronnie Gibson, Lane Clayton, Jimmie Passmore, and Jason Vest.

Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Clayton, and the Friends for Life Bible Study Group.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harmony Hill Baptist Church Children’s Building Fund, 2708 S. Chestnut Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901 or Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
