Funeral services for Burton B. “Jim” Jones, 91, of Zavalla will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery.
Mr. Jones was born June 16, 1926 in Burke, Texas to the late Pearl Mittie (Lakey) and Brady Burton Jones, and died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in a local nursing home. He resided in Zavalla most of his life. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Army and was a carpenter.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Burlon and Kay Jones and Russell Jones, all of Zavalla; granddaughters, Kristie D. Jones of Omaha and Shyanne Jones of Zavalla; great-grandson, Grayson Day of Zavalla; brothers and sister-in-law, Alton L. Jones, Ray and Pam Jones, and Roy G. Jones, all of Zavalla; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 51 years, Pauline (Parker) Jones; two brothers; and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be Albert Smith, Howard Smith, Delbert Jones, Robert Jones, Glen Jones, and Molee Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Jones’ nephews.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Huntington Healthcare for their care of Mr. Jones.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
