Burtis T. Boles, Sr.

June 10, 1944 — March 20, 2024

Funeral services for Burtis T. Boles, Sr., 79, of Jacksonville, formerly of Angelina County, will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Steve Cowart and Brother Jeff Little officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Boles was born June 10, 1944 in Nacogdoches, Texas and died Wednesday, March 20, 2024 in a local nursing home.

Burtis had worked in the Maintenance Department of Memorial Health Systems in Lufkin for 13 years and served his country in the United States Army. He was of the Baptist faith and was a graduate of Texas Baptist Institute. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working in his garden.

Survivors include his sons, Bennie Boles and wife Debbie of Jacksonville, Bud Boles and wife Kelli of Pollok, Bobby Boles and wife Christina of Porter; daughter, Jan Boles of Huntington; stepdaughter, Kimberly Lee of Lufkin; stepsons, Mark Molandes of  Chandler, Brad Molandes and wife Kim of Hudson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Marlin, Gaylon; sisters, Margaret, Karen, and Lillie; sisters-in-law, Louise and Sharon; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Artel Rodriguez and husband Santos; father, Bennie Boles and wife Bonnie; wife, Barbara Boles; brothers, Gary, Tommy, Bennie C.; sisters, Ann, Sherry; granddaughter, Casey Boles; grandson; Dakota Lee; and great-granddaughter, Karsyn Lane Boles.

Pallbearers will be Colton Boles,  Caleb Boles, Abram Boles, David Boles, MSG Anthony Mitchamore, and Taylor Getro.

Honorary pallbearers will be his former maintenance crew of Memorial Health Systems, Ernie Nerren, Jim Hornbuckle,Darryl Day, Wade Bryan, Kenneth Keely, Terry Barnett, Mike McFarland, and Jim Yeates.

A special thank you from the family to the wonderful caregivers at Huntington Healthcare and Heart to Heart Hospice. Your role in his life helped to preserve his dignity and manage his failing health with courage.

Burtis was an evangelist at heart. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to provide bibles in his memory at The Gideon's International, Lufkin West Camp, P.O. Box 1831, Lufkin, Texas 75902.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
