Graveside services for Burt Sparkman, 69, of Pollok will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. in the Gann Cemetery with his nephew, Pastor Michael Toland officiating.
Mr. Sparkman was born October 3, 1948 in Winnsboro, Texas to the late Nettie Lou (Hamm) and Ira Alton Sparkman, and died Sunday, April 1, 2018 in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Sparkman was self-employed as a concrete contractor. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and poker, especially Texas Hold ’em. He loved his dog. Mr. Sparkman was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his son, Travis Sparkman and wife Rüya of San Antonio; daughter, April Parker and husband Larry, Jr. of Katy; stepson, Kenneth Sanches and wife Janis of Pollok; grandchildren, Misty Ford, April Sanches, Joshua Clark, Jared Sparkman, Jason Sparkman, Trent Sparkman, and Paige Williams; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Ford, Emma Ford, and Kevin Clark; brothers, Claude Sparkman and wife, Faye and Billy Jean Sparkman and wife Noni, all of Winnsboro, and Derward Earl Sparkman of Lufkin; sisters, Nita Neystel and husband Don of Winnsboro and Gaile Lanier and husband Rickie of Longview; special friend, Donna Turner White of Lufkin; special niece, Margarette Sparkman of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Polly (Pinner) Sparkman; and brother, Luther Leon Sparkman.
Pallbearers will be Allen Young, Jared Sparkman, Coy Ditsworth, Larry Parker, Jr., Donald Self, and Jimmy Bowman.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones at Carroway Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Wednesday morning prior to the graveside service.
