Buddy Mills

Funeral services for Charles D. “Buddy” Mills, 88, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Comstock and Pastor D.R. McNaughton officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow at Old Union Cemetery under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Mills was born February 1, 1936 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Alma Velma (Scott) and Hollis Othela Mills, and died Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at The Joseph House in Lufkin.

Mr. Mills was a lifetime resident of Angelina County and retired as a Superintendent from Texas Southeastern Railroad after 35 years of employment. He served as a volunteer with the Diboll Fire Department for 20 years. Mr. Mills was a Past Master of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed sports, crafts, and spending time with family. He was a member of First Assembly of God Diboll.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Linda (Scarborough) Mills of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis Ann and Bobby Barfield of Diboll, Suzy and Doug Kervin of Lufkin, and Carla Dianne Adams of Hampton, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses, Lanton and Mandy Chumley, Jeremy and Ashley Hamilton, Christy Cantero, Bruce and Danielle Chumley, Aaron and Kelsey Adams, Madison and Fischer Martin, and Brandon and Melissa Dawson; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles Stephen Mills; granddaughters, Melissa Renè Simmons and Lerin Hill; brother, Hollis Edwin Mills; and sister, Martha Malone.

Pallbearers will be Masons of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
