Bruce was born February 4, 1957 in Lufkin, Texas to the late James “Bob” Horton and Bettye (Jarrett), and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 7, 2024 in a local hospital.

Bruce Horton – there was only one. He had a huge personality and his love for his family was larger than life. He started baseball at an early age with his Daddy teaching him and guiding him through the years. He was a standout pitcher through his high school and college years. He had a competitive spirit in everything he did. If you had Bruce as a friend, you were truly blessed. True friendship meant a lot to him – it meant respect, support, and love for those he considered his true friends. Bruce was known to be loud and gruff, but on the inside, he was loving and kind. If there was anything he loved more than baseball, it was the love he had for his family, friends and the boys he coached along the way. Bruce had a great sense of humor and could tell a joke better than anyone. Words cannot express how important he was to all those who knew and loved him, nor how much he will be missed by all of them. He has pitched his last inning…he has won the game!
