Brother Horace M. Fletcher

Funeral services for Bro. Horace Fletcher, 94, of Lufkin,  will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Roger Fancher and Brother Paul Sevar officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Bro. Fletcher was born September 3, 1929 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Allie (Trawick) and Arthur Fletcher, and went to his heavenly home Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Bro. Fletcher resided in the Lufkin area most of his life. He met, fell in love and married Dorothy Louise Middleton, and they spent the next 71 years together raising a family and living a life devoted to serving God. In his adult career he worked as a salesperson with Zep for more than 20 years. He took pride in the products he offered and if you ever spent any time visiting with him, he would still tell you those are the best products around. He surrendered to the ministry in 1961 and spent the next 61 years serving the families in Angelina County and surrounding communities, as well as working with hospice patients. He was a faithful and passionate minister at many churches but his longest tenure was at Hillcrest Baptist Church for 30 years, as well as Rocky Springs, Apple Springs, Calvary Baptist Church in Wells, and First Baptist Church in Elkhart.

Everyone who was fortunate enough to have known Bro. Horace would describe him using words such as dedicated, obedient, honest, educated, sincere, devoted and caring, just to name a few. He never turned down the chance to help, he never stopped praying and he never faltered in his faith, belief, and love for his Lord. The world has lost a true hero, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his children, Barbara Beasley and Wayne Fletcher, both of Lufkin, Darla Lindgren and husband Ronald of Timpson; grandchildren and spouses, Jimmy and Tiffany Beasley, Amy and Terry Collier, Cassie Fletcher, Brett and Amber Fletcher, Sarah and Jon Davis, Christin and Matthew Mitchell, Kristina and Donald Yarbrough, Bethany Lindgren, Ashlynn Lindgren, Adam Lindgren; great-grandchildren, Garrett Beasley, Jacob Beasley, Brooklyn Beasley, Degas Berry, Larkin Berry, Jace Moody, Jadyn Moody, Jaxson Moody, Andrew Sullender, Alex Sullender, Evangeline Fletcher, Ezraleigh Fletcher, Gideon Fletcher, Wren Davis, Sloan Davis, Conley Davis, Allison Mitchell, Miles Mitchell, Harlie Fletcher, Scott Fletcher; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bro. Fletcher was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 71 years, Dorothy Louise Fletcher; grandson, Jeffrey Fletcher; and both of his brothers.

Pallbearers  will be Brett Fletcher, Andrew Sullender, Matthew Mitchell, Adam Lindgren, Jimmy Beasley, Justin Abner, Alex Sullender, and Marion Abner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jaxson Moody, Jace Moody, and Scott Fletcher.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
