Funeral services for Boyce Hendry, 92, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jim Housley officiating. Interment will follow in the Wallace Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Hendry was born December 25, 1925 in Bering, Texas to the late Dovie (Smith) and Brooks Hendry, and died Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Hendry resided in Angelina County most of his life and was a Hudson High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the Lufkin Industries Trailer Division. Mr. Hendry enjoyed hunting and fishing but he lived to garden. He loved the Lord and was faithful to serve Him. He served as song leader for Wallace Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for almost 40 years, and also taught adult Sunday school classes.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Beulah M. (Kenner) Hendry of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mike Gipson of Lufkin; son, Boyd Hendry of Hudson; grandsons, Ross Gipson, Will Hendry and Isaac Hendry, all of Hudson; and a number of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Clovis Hendry; sisters, Mada Lou Hendry McKenzie and Nelda Leigh Hendry Lowery; and daughter-in-law, Jana Hendry.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wallace Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 258 Penn Bonner Road, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
