Bobby Fern Collier Limerick

August 19, 1925 — June 2, 2017

A Memorial Mass for Bobby Fern Collier Limerick, 91, of Lufkin will be held Monday, June 19, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Kannampuzah officiating.

Mrs. Limerick was born August 19, 1925, in Palestine, Texas, and passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 in Lufkin, Texas.

Mrs. Limerick graduated from the first graduating class of Woodhouse High School in Palestine, in 1942. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin in 1945, majoring in Education and Physical Education, with a minor in Biology, English, and Social Studies. Mrs. Limerick taught school in Robstown ISD, East Texas Baptist College, Woodhouse School, and completed her teaching career at Slocum ISD, retiring in 1979. She married G.H. Limerick in 1946, and was married for 60 years, until his death in 2006.

She was always very active in the school districts and churches in which she taught, supporting her 6 children in all of their various activities.   She loved to do cross stitch, embroidery, and sewing of any kind. She was an excellent cook and baker. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who put her families and others needs and concerns first.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G.H. Limerick; son, Bobby Limerick; parents, James Grover and Emily (Nivens) Collier; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Dudley Ferrell; and brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Alice Collier.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Gay and Terry Brown of The Woodlands, Kay and Larry Upshaw of Hemphill, Carol and Jim Poston of Tyler, and Judy and Randy George of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Stephanie Limerick of Tyler; brother and sister-in-law, Butch and Fern Collier of Palestine; grandchildren, Lori and Brian Werner of Washington, DC, Leigh Brown and Josh Bitz of Denver, Colorado, Ryan and Keyli Upshaw of Liberty Hill, Andrew and Valerie Upshaw of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Heath and Stefanie Limerick of Hutto, Sarah and Amber Limerick of Austin, Sheldon Wortham of Tyler, Layton Hash of Slocum, Ashley and Brian Nelson of Bullard, Lindsey and Brian Pond of Fair Oaks Ranch, Chelsey and Riley Sheehan of Austin, Randy and Lisa George, Jr. of Lufkin, Kristina George of Dallas, and Caitlin George of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Jase and Sydnee Upshaw of Liberty Hill, Cain Upshaw of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kolby, Mason and Riley Limerick of Hutto, Ezra Limerick of Austin, Dillon Wortham of Tyler, Maddox and Hensley Nelson of Bullard, and Trace George of Lufkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Heath Limerick, Ryan Upshaw, Andrew Upshaw, Randy George, Jr., Sheldon Wortham, Layton Hash, Brian Nelson, Brian Pond, Brian Werner, Riley Sheehan, and Josh Bitz.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice in the Pines and the staff of The Joseph House, for their care and compassion through this difficult time.
